A poem about living in a war.

It's all for the war effort

Living the nightmare
you're in a car falling over
a white cliff in dover you scream
but it's all a movie stunt.

In real time, a sniper
is aiming at your head
with an M-16 rifle
brought to you by
minute man orange juice ad.

His government paid for
to buy weapons for the war.
Where's the peace now?

Maybe with a woman
from the red light district
in some foreign open city
giving freebies for the war effort.

She gently massages your head
whispers sweet somethings
in your ears clearing your mind.

As you try to find some piece of you.
you left home off of I 95
south of Jacksonville Florida.

You run into battle,
your yen and yang
clearly motivated
a forest is burning
in your eyes,

watching flames in
some middle eastern paradise
where the natives are more
restless than you.

Kill them. Or they'll kill you.
That's why your here now
to die and be sacrificed
in the name of their gods.

The camera's rolling.
You hear the word, "action!"
It's not a stunt anymore.

Interesting take on things, I guess. I hope the world will survive to see the day when we don't have wars any more.
