A Woman's Smile

by Michael Charles Messineo — Read all 96 poems by Michael Charles Messineo

There is simple magic in discovering the path to making a woman smile. Take the challenge, and remember, sometimes your smile activates their smile.

Saturday, May 1, 2004

It’s all I do to push myself
to pull my thoughts from my minds shelf

to reach out for the journey’s mile
to receive that flash of a woman’s smile.

I press my efforts to think real deep
when she is pouting or in a weep.
I interrupt her destructive style
to earn that moment of a woman's smile.

She sometimes sees that things are dark
she waits for moments of changing spark.

When her mind is cloaked with darkness piled
it’s me that draws this woman’s smile.

She sometimes never thinks of me,
when her fears of life is all she sees.

My energy turns up the dial,
and turns her tears into a woman’s smile.

But after she smiles, she digresses
to thoughts of frowns and vile lessons.
I catch her eyes my brows are dialed
to help bring back that woman’s smile.

The edges of my mouth turn upward as I read the first verse...by the fifth a broad smile appeared, you gotta love the men that strive to make a woman smile! Well written and well read, thank you, Michael, for sharing this delightful ditty.

Love and Dreams,
Karen

I loved the way you rhymed this so well, so unforced- and it is great to have that man that makes you smile- mine seems to so easily, and it is one of the beauties of life that is so underestimated. Well-done.

Ah yes Mike, is not a great thing when we make them smile, as a frown or anger is not something I like to see either...I am back on AD for now, not sure how or why I couldn't get logged in, but you are stuck with me again...A beautiful piece of work, Mike...
Peace thru Words, Ed & Rufuz
