Used as fragments in my sci-fi series, Quasar 169, this piece was inspired by my first trip to Canada, home of my maternal grandparents.
Canada
O, land of my grandmother
where mountains peirce the sky
I must stop to reminisce of you,
and then I sigh...
Sweet, red raspberries in my cousin’s patch
Sweet, clear rivers full of silvered catch
Cool, clean air as far as I can see
Nature’s Northern lands of beauty calling me
Summer mornings misty when I rise
and the dew-drenched grass beneath my feet
Softened greens and greys to meet my eyes
Where people smile and wave whe’re they meet
The rain like molten silver on the glass
The rolling land is crowned by golden sun
What a fool I’d be to pause or pass
this land that haunts my mind I cannot shun
O, land of my grandfather
where white clouds dot the sky
someday I will return to you,
and then I’ll sigh.
Welcome!
The poems in this beautifully bound book are a result of over twenty years of observations. Observations of the world around us and on the telecommunications network. All of the hate, love, heroism, disasters, and those who help.
