Too much pain

Has killed my brain

Down to my neck

That I don't stick out no more

Too many wrongs

I played along

I lost respect

That I can't get back no more

Too little heart

Or was I smart

To not react

When I didn't dare no more?

Sometimes the wounds provide compassion for others, when we have learned to topple our walls. So heart touching, D.T.

Sometimes, in a very dire situation, only cowards survive. But if you're talking about relationships, being cowardly certainly won't help a relationship.

Hi D.T.:

The title of this poem is "Coward", and I supposed that is what you have written how a coward would feel. I sensed there is a lot of disappointment being felt by you, perhaps towards the people whom you should care. Yet, your past experiences with these loved ones have caused you to think twice about sticking out your neck to safe them again.

Enjoyed this. Read it several times and got something different out of it each time.
