a sense of prayer
prayer. a plea, a supplication, a hope
maybe a wish rising like a feather
or maybe the entirety of flight.
maybe the breath and maybe a communion
with the intelligibility of air in the glow
of a day like this.
a day that feels indeed like many pairs of wings
and the amazing sight, the amazing
warmth of a whole sky and whole flocks
of new songs.
prayer. maybe the amazing sense of being
bared to the sun in a pure state of grace
– and the amazing reverse of a sense
of wearing through all seasons
an overcast tone of imprecation
like a cloak of ashes that is clutched
to far more than just a concept
of soul.
maybe the antiphon echoed in the simplicity
of a silent recitation, deaf to fear.
prayer. maybe every day like a smile
on a day like this.

This extraordinary poem manifests itself within the reader's soul, like yeast making dough to rise, that very pure essence and "sense of prayer". Thank You for such a beautiful garden in which to meditate.
