REMINDER OF ALL THAT (HE) IS

(To Joseph, my Love and much more, on the day we are reminded of the day he was born)

He reminds me of LIGHT;
of what light must have been like in the beginning,
when all that is still throbbed by that primordial fissure
in the obscurity of before everything was.

And this is perhaps why he reminds me of PURITY;
of that state all that became was intended for, when it all came to be;
of the essence that countless and timeless forms absorb and recreate,
and senses, and seasons, and perceptions, render boundless.

Yes, he reminds me of BOUNDLESSNESS;
of the immensity of sky, of the horizon, not breaking but embracing
the ever changing outline of dune or ocean, of rock or tree, meadow or fell,
or plunging into an abyss only to erupt and soar again.

He reminds me of SOARING;
of all things with wings, from birds, to creativity, to dreams;
of what the wind must feel like to a seagull, gliding in its song.

He reminds me of songs, of all melodies in nature... of HARMONY;
of the attunement even of opposites, and of how
it is not only possible but natural for SERENITY and PASSION
to become the two indissoluble elements of a consummate whole.

He reminds me of WHOLENESS -
but, even more so, of the PATH to WHOLENESS;
of each step, each breath, and each metamorphosis
along each HERE and within each NOW.

He reminds me of PRESENCE, and therefore of LIFE -
he reminds me of seeds, of orchards, of sources, and of streams.

And this is perhaps why he reminds me of THANKFULNESS;
of abundance, of how it endlessly grows from endless giving.

And he reminds me of LOVE;
Oh, yes! -
Of that state all that became was intended for, when it all came to BE.

Your soaring words surpass all superlatives and I have no doubt that their object deserves each and every one. The love between you is a beautiful and endearing reality. May it continue unimpeded forever.
