"He mourns that day so soon
has glided by:
E'er like the passage of an
angel's tear
That falls through the clear
ether silently"
~~~~~~~John Keats~~~~~
With no one to read
and critique one's poetry,
it becomes forever silenced
in one's tears.
The image that you have chosen very effectively complements your verses and emphasizes the message that you share. Thank you, Vivian. Love and best wishes,
It is true to an extent that pieces of our heart that are rendered on the page are somewhat like tears silenced forever...but we have to look at it from another avenue similar to "If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it...does it make a sound?" Yes, it still does and the tears that fall may evaporate but the residue of it lingers in the heart of the writer and anyone who may stumble upon it at some point in time.
Review the comments made on your "More Than Enough" tribute poem again. Wonderful support from AD members of a tender poem of love for a disabled person; poetry in it's best form. Joy L. Hale
I had belonged to a site where about 8 other poets and myself shared various writings, responding to each others poetry in poetic form. We did that for about four years, each of us slowly found ourselves involved in other things. It slowly became just 2 to 3 of us. Back in March, we decided it was time to close the site down. I hadn't posted much since then, a few things on facebook to friends, etc. I didn't realize til I started posting here in AD a few weeks ago, how much I missed the interaction with other writers. This is a good place to be for now...our writing that we share will hit ears that hear and will hit other ears that don't. I know the ones that hear are the ones who needed my words that day...that is a good feeling. Today... I heard your words..I needed to hear them. Thank you for being here.
I know how you feel but it's just the way it is. Some poets never comment on other poets works and I found the more you leave honest comments on other poets the more you will receive. Also writing good poetry is a big difference also. This is not a critique site.
We write poetry from our souls, not from our acquaintances. If you wish fame and fortune, and with it, many fans, then poetry is not the way to achieve it.
I will read what you write and will comment where appropriate. If I do not agree with what you are writing, I will not challenge it, I just will not comment, because AD authors are so afraid of any criticism, constructive or not, that they often cry abuse, even when there's no abuse.
You have no friends here. Just fellow poets who are trying to write good poetry.
The happiness I receive from my poetry is in the writing of them. Yes, it is a good day when someone reads and comments on them, that is why we are here on AD. It gives us a glow.
The songs and art in this book are about our collective emergence after the pandemic and trauma of the last few years - comprised of 5 collections: World as Refuge, Where We Live, In Our Hands, Rhythms of Change and What We See & Sow.
A further collection of poems, many from years in the Middle East, but also the California San Francisco and Central Coast areas (Santa Cruz, Carmel, Big Sur, Berkeley, etc.).
Be always safe,
