Flashes
I wait for those flashes, as now they are all I have. They come in gushes
Or leave me dry, for days quite forgetting my need to drown in that sea.
Most of what we believe, what understand, comes in a flash. In a moment
One is laden with the riches that have no equal. In the moment lies eternity.
That second has the seeds that sprout and branch. In vain do bidders cry,
Out-topping each other in the hope of buying me. In vain does a daring one reply
With joys that make the rest subside, thinking that he has bought me.
Can the joy of buying talent ever match up with what the flashes bring?
Can the sleeping world ever even slightly dip itself in the bliss that it must miss?
I have swum in it, quite often, floated with ecstasy; that flash begotten, flash created sea.
