Waiting

Waiting doesn’t seem good, good for instance like dating.
Waiting upon another, can be e’en more irritating.
Were my thoughts on a day I both waited and then waited upon.
I loathed myself, pitied my existence, felt like a moron. 
How hours passed, without any gain, thrill, or success.

I thought of words such as “depress”, “mess” or simply “less”.
With nothing to happen, nothing to do, I was forced to contemplate.
My mind was awakened and shakened; I did meditate.
Activities can lead to quarrels, and to accidents.
Work and gain can raise envy and jealousy in friends.
Idle waiting, contemplating can lead to wondrous results.
Inward journeys and visions in which the soul exults.
Company, friends and gossip, and all that we daily do 
Can lead to our undoing; be our very waterloo.
