My Bed!

There are few things I love more than food, but MY BED is right up there with the things I love most in my life. There are times when I forget how much I love it until I'm back there again, smothered in covers and warm as toast, and it's so welcoming at the end of a long hard day.

MY BED!

Ah, there's nothing I love more than my lovely bed!

Such a brief time spent in its warm embrace

When I lay down my weary head,

and sink into pillow softness upon my face.

Stretching out arms and legs shaped like a star

On my back, front, or even on my side

Wrapping covers round, so snug they are

'specially when wintry icy-cold outside.

Too often, when the mind is full and evenings steal away the time

When TV or the phone-calls pull, then steps to bed seem hard to climb

No matter, since with every yawn compelling heavy eyelids close

My bed, my sanctuary until dawn, promises a peaceful night’s repose

And so I climb into my wondrous bed!

In foetal position curled up tight

Within the wee hours of the night

All too soon, slumber comes to an end

When my alarm rankles me awake

alerting me to a new daybreak

And is to me more foe than friend!

So to rescue my dreams before they’re forgotten

I snake out a hand to press the snooze button

And burrow much deeper and cover my head

Because in all honesty

And I make no apology

But once everything's all done and said

Wild horses can't drag me out of my warm bed.

Hit that snooze button. All the sleep we'll ever need is just 5 minutes more.

Omega Factor by John Henning

Take some time to walk outside of your own mind and into another, walk slowly and carefully; the mind that you step on might be your own.
