Jippy Hip
My hip was working perfectly fine
And then I got a strain
My movement took a sharp decline
And I was doubled up in pain.
Don’t ask me whence the strain derived
I haven’t got a clue
It’s just a wonder I survived
The agony I was going through.
I’ve crawled up on my hands and knees
I’ve limped to catch my bus
I’ve winced my way through prayers and pleas
And really made a fuss.
Why now this ailment, harsh and bold
attacks my perfect hip?
And why when outside’s really cold
does it proceed to give me jip?
The doctor says to take things slow
It’s going to be a while
Till all is healed but even so
It’s altered my expressive style
My gait defines the shape I’m in
It really isn’t fun to see
Me limping out and limping in
And struggling on from A to B
Still …
The pain I know will ease so long
as I stay medicated
I’ll know exactly what was wrong
The pains, when hurting has abated
Alas, of course, are age-related.

about getting old.
Wear and tear,
will make you swear,
in 4 letter glory.
I'm glad your hip's ok now,
but it was a painfully funny story.
