Forget ME Not

I seem to be having a moan fest lately, all because I've reached middle-age and my lip is on the ground because of all this entails. Parts of me don't work quite so well; other parts are blighted by some ailment or other (mystery pains manifest at the most inconvenient times) and I'm discovering physical changes taking place that I'm not happy about. I maintain that middle-age and I were never formally introduced but it snuck into my life anyway. Oh well, here's another rhyme about the unfortunate dysfunction of one of my major faculties.

This memory-loss thing is becoming a drag

Like the time that I went for my keys from my bag

I stood on the threshold, and feeble I'm not

But what I was doing there, I plumb forgot

It happens more daily, it's like a brain melt

To recall, there’s gaps where my memories dwelt

I conquer forgetfulness by making lists

Wondering how much exactly of the real me still exists

I wouldn't say Alzheimer's, that's too severe

But the senior moments make themselves clear

It's old age creeping up with a smack in the chops

With a mind like a sieve and a bum-knee that pops

It's the way we progress from our youth to old age

Where we're not quite old yet but we're nearing that stage

It's a syndrome with sadly no hope that it passes

Now what the bloody-hell have I done with my glasses?

How do i know
My youth is all spent
My get up and go
Has got up and went
But in spite of it all
I'm able to grin
And think of the places
My get up has been

I think that's from Pete Seeger, But I'm not sure. (old memories you know) A cool write.

Another humorous and quite truthful rant about growing older. Quite lovely and keep them up.

You could blame forgetfulness on the complexity of the life today. It used to be called, "future shock," but it's still around and getting worse. On the other hand, the baby boomer lifestyle with all of its conveniences has put a whole generation at risk of earlier degeneration from overuse of the wrong things. I don't ever recall being in a thing called "middle age." I'm still looking for it to come along.

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
