I’m back in my scarf,
this English weather dictates what I wear each day
The flip-flops came out,
the toes were free but now I’ve had to hide them away
The rain spatters hard on the windows,
umbrellas on standby these days it seems
We hustle and bustle as the wind blows,
As torrents fall down in floods and teems
I’m back in my coat,
And gloves keep my fingers nice and toasty
The tights will ladder but it doesn’t matter
Because I wear trousers in the winter mostly
To the back of the wardrobe go the dresses,
With skirts, thin tops, thin shirts and shorts
And I reach now for the thickest of sweaters
Dressing according to the weather reports
Bring on the log fires and central heating
Bring back the 13 tog duvets too
Get out the blankets for wrapping our feet in
And then I won’t care if it snows, nor will you.
