One day I was feeling blue over my new status as an "empty nester." I think most mothers have experienced this feeling, perhaps some dad's also. Little did I realize the nest doesn't stay empty long! They came back with: friends, girlfriends/boyfriends, would be suitors for marriage, then the children and grandchilren that were to follow. My angst was all for naught... they have kept me busy since this poem was written.... thank God!

1985? how did I miss that then? The answer is.. I was not even thinking of reading, let alone writing, at that time. But' Everything in this collection of fine words is without a doubt true! Speaking as a Dad of five, I know all these feeling! All except the mid-life part of course. Because, well; I'm still only 21 you see" er..Hang on one minute I seem to have lost count ..lol

This was an enjoyable one to read Joy. Been there, but it was 25 years ago, It's nice when the granddaughters come to visit now though. Three of them (12 thru 17) all within 6 or 7 miles of me.
Empty the nest...give them wings to fly, and they will return!

I thoroughly enjoyed this poem and the love shown to you by your family. Thank you for being such a nice person.
Let this coming of age story of a boy named Bean take you back to a simple time. Set in a small southern town in the 1960's, encircled by a river and gleaming white cotton fields.
