The heat was stifling, the place was full

that August day at the BomBay Gin,

I was thinking of my 3rd Beer when,

like a Hollywood starlet she walked in

A wide brimmed hat, smartly dressed

like Rita Hayworth from long ago,

click of her heels on the floor

a woman every guy wanted to know

At the bar she slid into a seat

her perfume danced in my mind,

Bartender asked what she would like

" Double Whiskey and a man's tight behind"

She had the attention of every man

I got pushed aside when she needed a light,

like hungry dogs looking for fresh meat

every guy saw her as a quick delight

Tho there was a No Smoking sign

no one at the bar did care,

everyone wanted her, it was a scene,

such a woman, no one would share

I walked past the pack to a table

my dinner alone, waiting for me,

tho she seemd not to notice,

her eyes saw what she wanted to see

I was halfway through my meal

when she sat down too

" Mind if I sit with you,

you're not like others, are you? "

" Shall I tell you who I am?"

" Not really interested"-my reply was cold,

" No sense in showing all your colors

in rough wrappings there is usually Gold"

Laughing at my bluntness she said

" Ok-find out  later in your car!"

I said " better think again

you're on 1st base-you won't get far"

She said " I've made the pitch here

in this sweet little BomBay Gin"

I said " better think again

with your moves the Coach is calling you in"

She laughed, I smiled at her lips

so inviting " Will you dance with me?"

her hand on my leg, I said " Sure "

so close to her, a beauty to see

We danced forever that night

that lonely night at the BomBay Gin,

her passion for me like a prairie fire,

opened her heart and took me in

Her Kisses so deep ,took my breath away

Bewitching Beauty, a woman to win,

a Helen of Troy, a Bathsheba too,

that Rapturous Beauty at the BomBay Gin

I take my Bombay gin in a martini with olives, stirred, not shaken.

A romance made in poetry, not life. My cousin had a strategy, too. When in a bar, he always hit on the lonely ugly sitting down on the end of the bar. Got laid a lot too.

I took my beauties to the bar. Didn't have to meet them there.

She sounds like the type that would mesmerize the crowd and she certainly did, "that Rapturous Beauty at the BomBay Gin"!

Love ya!

You never know what will happen and this is a good write about the unexpected turning into a lifetime dream :-)
