This may be more of a rembling wishful Thinking or even a hoped for miracle. What If?

Peace In Our Time?

Another year gone and what have I achieved,
Besides growing older, and rounder if my statistics can be believed,
Twelve months which seem to have passed by in just a flash,
And I’m still here on earth, not yet having done my dash,

So many compatriots have gone on to their heavenly reward,
I breath a sigh when those names I hear and silently implore,
The good lord in his wisdom to extend my bonus time,
So that I can do those things I neglected, somewhere along the line.

Lord grant me the wisdom to leave with family and my friends,
Word s of encouragement and let me make amends,
In instances wherever I have said an unkind word,
Word s spoken hastily which now seem petty and absurd,

Could it be Lord that I may see, the best in others,
Showing by example the way to live, with all as brothers,
Seeing all the good in others that at some time I may have missed,
All those salient points that are needed for all to coexist.

Here I am Lord facing another brand New Year,
I can only pray with others that at last Peace may appear,
That through some miracle passing right throughout the World,
That all men live as brothers with the flag of Peace unfurled.
