We are a bit slow on the uptake. The economy seems to be based on "consumers" who rush to all the monopolistic giants for their temporary lower prices like lemmings unknowing that by becoming "too big to fail" these gargantuan, bloated enterprises will insure their posterity long after their usefulness is gone.

It is strange that John D Rockefeller's offspring benefit greatly from all the smaller [?] companies that were created when Standard Oil broke up. And they're back monopolizing today.
