Bursting out with Smiles

I’m bursting out with smiles to-day

Because my Daddy’s come to stay

He’s promised not to go away

Because he loves my Mummy

He left one day, just after tea

And that upset Mummy and me

They use to row a lot you see

Oh how I miss my Daddy

Mummy cried both night and day

And I just didn’t want to play

I wish her hurt would go away

Because I love my Mummy

I spoke to Daddy on the phone

 Asked him please to come back home

We were so sad that he had gone

Oh how we miss you Daddy

The days and then the weeks went by

At night in bed sometimes I’d cry

‘Be brave said Mummy, will you try         

I know you miss your Daddy

My Daddy loves me, that I know

He often hugs and tells me so

Oh why did Daddy have to go

I know he loves my Mummy

Then they had that long, long chat

Discussing this, discussing that

And Daddy said, he missed the cat

Oh what a silly Daddy

But really what he meant to say

He wished he hadn’t gone away

He misses us both night and day

Oh poor unhappy Daddy

And Mummy said,  can we be

A loving , caring family

And Daddy said, Yes I agree

Lets’ go and tell our baby

I’m bursting out with smiles to-day

And in my bed to-night I’ll pray

To God for such a happy day

 For Mummy and for Daddy
