Two Trees
And out of the ground made the
Lord God to grow every tree that is
pleasant to the sight and good for food,
The tree of life also in the garden, and
the tree of knowledge of evil and good.
Genesis 2:9
I was drawn to the fruit of the tree
of knowledge, beautiful and free.
Evil? It’s deliciously sweet Akee.
Sucking it’s sugar from noon to night,
dancing to moon music, my single plight,
independent drifter, alone at campsite
longing to lie on hallowed ground,
to stop the haunting hollow sound
but body remains still. No resound.
Crawling from roadside to gutter,
sun and rain, now snowflakes flutter.
Rolling under buttress, abyss’s dutter,
I am in control. I choose my destiny,
scourging seeping sewers and briny,
my prosperity, abject asperity?
Alone within, promise without,
I know no other so doused in doubt,
but now, I look to you to help me out.
What is this Tree of Life that’s blest thee
where others have made their nest to be?
Oh, Crimson Bird, is there room for me?

today. There is a parable behind it all, one might be good and the other bad, we all have to choose which tree we will desire to eat
from. That is how life goes, I especially enjoyed your verses of the
poem "What is this Tree of Life that's blest thee, where other have
made their nest to be? Good write.
Too deep for me
I'm from the fledgling tree
Not high enough
to understand thee.
