A commentary on faded love that I am working on getting put to music

It didn’t go as we had planned
Now we’re drowning on dry land
We found out that love wasn’t grand
Now we’re drowning on dry land

Together yet alone in marriage’s waste land
And we’re drowning on dry land

Our once burning love is going to crash and burn

We’ll just keep draggin’, tearing each other down

The feelings we had, are long gone, never to return

We have to split. or we’ll surely both drown

We have grown far apart and now are taciturn
Continuing this way will bring us only pain

We have to cease, and desist, before we overturn

Or we’ll torment and drive each other insane

Let’s agree to disagree and set each other free
We have to put an end to this fireworks show
Maybe we’ll be friends after the divorce decree
But now it’s over, time for us to let it go

A powerful title with myriad ramifications.

Agreeing to disagree reminds me of an old Dave Mason song, the title of which eludes me at the moment.
