She Storms My Brain
She storms my brain
in psychedelic colors
and discordant rhythms,
leaving me breathless
as I explore new shapes
and forms of knowing.
Like Lucy in the sky
and Marijane—
she storms my brain--
my strange new flower
with feverish bright petals
that leave me mystified.
She dances to the synesthetic
music of red and orange
notes that I can taste upon
my tongue, laughing like
a transparent angel
in a warm summer rain--
yes, there she goes again
storming my brain.
And I have no way of knowing
where I am or where I'll be—
I just come out deranged
and beautiful, smiling like
the sun. And she...
Well, she just laughs at me
and storms my brain.
Lucy in the sky with diamonds. A reference to what psychedelics do to one's senses. Can't say that I ever experienced them. Only a slightly different down from the wine I was drinking after eating Alice Toklas's recipe brownies.
But I danced with a flower girl in a tie-dyed shift one day. It made a very nice impression on my brain. But she left in the crowd after the dance and I never saw her again.
I've always taken particular pleasure in stormy weather. Symbolises the pleasurous multitudes of natural blessings conferred upon us my Ghea...if we could just stop to appreciate it, and leave everything bloody well alone, just as it is! How fortunate you have a real-live Ghea of your own to stimulate the pleasure centers of your brain, Alex! Get out those gossamer wings you've been saving for a special occasion and fly with her! Weather right now is CAFB (Clear As an Effin' Bell). Just don't fly too close to the Sun...remember what happened to Icarus! LoL. -K2
