She drifts in a vacuum
of her words—
both pointed and pointless—
as she tries to justify
a senseless slaughter
like a cheerleader
cheering for the home team,
blind to the realities
and the horrors of war,
as charred and dismembered
bodies of men, women
and children pile up in
the ancient country,
once seen as the cradle
of civilization, now
reduced to rubble and
ashes to be reconstructed
into a makeshift mockery
of a democracy
with a puppet regime,
that allows full access
and control of its resources,
revised and edited as
the liberation of the people.
That cheerleader could've been a reporter or a political insider. But we have to be careful what causes we follow thinking that they are just.
