To Cipher
We lived in a world of gloom,
Not a flicker of light in the dimness
Of our prison cell;
We sat on our cots face to face,
Staring, as a silent clock ticked,
Not a motion, just tacitly knowing,
As days passed;
Someone would pound on the door,
We'd ignore it without a word spoken;
Outside there was no gloom
As we stared in the dimness knowing,
And weeks passed;
We stared without expression,
Not speaking or showing emotion,
The passion and rage in us growing,
As we plotted the world's destruction
In our self-made cell
Where I return sometimes alone.
