Awaking to screams in the dark
You were scared of a dream
You feel back asleep in my arms
I held you tight in the night

Times brought changes
I grew ill in my youth
You held me through the hurt
I held you tight in my heart

Something broke in you
That I couldn't heal
The struggle took you away
I held you tight in my dreams

The earth was damp
When I covered your body
Even in your absence
I held you tight in my loss

The journey was lonely
But I held the hope
That love would prevail
And I would hold you again
