I am yours to drink
Said the sea to a man
I will provide for you
In darkness and light
The man said nothing
To the generous sea
But took what was given
With greed most unwisely
I am yours to live on
Said the earth to a man
I will hold your weight
However sparse or full
The man said nothing
To the sturdy earth
But filled the ground
Leaving no room for growth
I am yours to breathe
Said the sky to a man
I will fill your body
With life and beauty
The man said nothing
To the filling sky
But filled the air with dirt
Until beauty was a lie
I am yours to see
Said the fire to a man
I will light your way
In all hours of the day
The man said nothing
To the raging fire
But used the wary tool
To inspire despair
These gifts were given
Freely to a man
Who showed little
Smarts with his gifts
Now we suffer from his
Mistakes that we carry
Past his time of useless,
Petty waste and weary
