Why is to so hard

To live as a bard?

          To live a happy life

          Without daily strife

                   A life where we strive

                   With those that we love

          Never leaving their sides

          And no need to hide

It’s not much to ask

To live without masks

          To show our pride

          Not downward slide

                   I just want to thrive

                   In the life that I live

          Lying in my lover’s arms

          And causing no harm

Doing a job that I like

Not my head on a spike

          If there’s such a place

          My heart would race

                   To stake a plot in time

                   Instead of just in rhyme
