..."I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with senses, reason and intellect, has intended us to forgo their use and by some other means to give us knowledge which we can attain by them"...
So do I...Galileo Galilei...

Poem and Bondi Beach/Sydney, Worldwide known playground of many sand-sun-surf lovers, iPhone pic by Isabella Koldras.

"All the World's a stage"
Who to argue with the famous bard?
Yet
Wouldn't it be nice to think that
your own poems,...abusive poets/writers
were being written by a similarly
erudite and intelligent man?
After all
You are on the Worlds stage!
Where is a fair poetry in your play?
Littered with vulgar distortion
dubious aesthetics, flat-out lies.
Oh yes!
Oddly enough some poets/writers
mock others...but use a subtle
wit, sense of humor that doesn't offend.
Sure!
"Homo sum, humani nihil a me allenum puto"...and it is fine,
as long as you don't try
something wrong present as right
bad dress-up as a good fun
inappropriate view as ideally suited
to World needs of Sun-morn-fun-time.

What's your thinking poet/writer/man?
Where's some clear and honest
narrative structure in you poem?
Who's making your case and choice?
What interest to abuse do you have?
Are you the kind of folk
that's telling the Worlds stage
many debatable fairy-tales?
Or
Just questioning the abused-receiver's wisdom?

How dare you bring it to our house?
put in front of our eyes, without warning...
Your photo and abusive words
raping the human being in so many of us,
our dignity, spirit and sophisticated minds?
How dare you chose to have a fun
and crack a joke at the expense
of an emerging African poet-child
at school, that among others learns
dignity, trust, dreams big with pride
believes in his own nations culture
and traditions worth?
How dare you put his beloved friend-monkeys intentions in doubts?
And...Why?
Because you're white?
Like an empty page/canvas that needs
poets/artists soul and heart
to feel it up with graceful strokes
of open mind?
Or
Because you have a gun...fun-killing's
what you seek?
I doubt...
After apartheid, your "357 Magnum"
would do much harm...
Or
Because others exuberate your guts?
Or
You fear, that your Worlds stage
somehow requires you to engage
in your own-improvisation to surprise
all other players and the World?...not being briefed never dare to stand up and say...Nooooooooo!
Give them a chance!
For now, I'm here to help you
to rediscover your lost plot!

"I have never met a man so ignorant
that I couldn't learn something from him"...
Sorry, Galileo Galilei...I did.....

This poem pretty much sums up the spirit of our Age, it seems. Deep wounds come through these words...well written, in that you channel many who would wish to bring their pain in to the world stage and even the score. Excellent, and well written.

This poem is written with a sound message for many. There are so many who would write to mock others. I think your message is well-delivered to the intended recipients.

Reading your poem touches me Isabella. The world is full of a lot of people with the 'superiority complex syndrome.' They would rather put anyone down who they don't consider to be on their league. Sad but true. What i have always believed is never to give up nor be offended. I keep going even when a door is closed on my face. All i ever desire is to be exactly as i was created to be and that's final. Sorry for my long comment but your lovely poem deep stirred my heart. Kudos Isabella for being one of the few good people in the world today xx

WE ARE BORN INTO THIS WORLD AND FROM THE CRADLE WE ALL BEGIN TO 'LEARN'...WHAT THIS WORLD IS ALL ABOUT. WE CONTINUE TO LEARN, ALL THROUGH LIFE, THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GOOD AND BAD BY COMING IN CONTACT WITH THE OTHER 'PLAYERS' ON THIS WORLD'S STAGE. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THIS POET TO ADDRESS THIS WORK WITHOUT SEEING IT THROUGH THE EYES OF THE CREATOR OF THIS WORLD. FOR IT IS THROUGH HIS LIGHT THAT I CAN SEE CLEARLY AND WHAT I SEE IS THIS; NOTHING HAPPENS BY MERE CHANCE. EVERY EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN PRE-ORDAINED...FOR OUR GOOD. WHY DOES THE BAD HAPPEN? IN ORDER THAT WE MIGHT LEARN TO TRUST OUR CREATOR AND REALIZE THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GO THROUGH THIS WORLD WITHOUT GOD...AND HIS LOVE. THE NEGATIVE ELEMENT IN THIS WORK NEEDS TO BE PITIED, EVEN THOUGH, YES...WE DO GET ANGRY WITH THIS SORT. HOWEVER, HE HAS A PURPOSE BUT HE IS ALSO GOD'S CHILD AND HOPEFULLY, WITH PRAYER, WILL ONE DAY CHANGE. UNTIL THEN...LET'S AFFORD EVERY PERSON THEIR GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO EXPRESS THEIR TRUE FEELINGS (RIGHT OR WRONG, GOOD OR BAD), LIKE YOU HAVE DONE IN THIS WORK. I HOPE THE TAINTED REMARK WAS SUBTLE ENOUGH SO THAT THE YOUNGSTER DIDN'T PICK IT UP. HOWEVER, IF HE DID, ITS ALL A PART OF THAT 'LEARNING' THING. THANKS FOR SHARING, ISABELLA. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

So much expressed here; so much to ponder. Your poem is worthy of much more than a single reading. Thank you for sharing, Isabella. Love and best wishes,

Respect is the word! I respect everyone for what he or she writes; for like myself, one does one's best. Hence I will ever show respect for others! Let all the experts say otherwise if that will make them happy! Well done, Isabella!

I accept your criticism with humility. However, the poem was and should always be, simply humorous. I have been told that the photo was inappropriate and that I probably shouldn't have used Africa instead of some mystical place. But these are the problems with trying to write humor.

I will quote Abraham Lincoln badly. "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time." And I can certainly be a fool, sometimes. It doesn't bother me because I accept it as normal.

Just picking fun of our human fallacies and predilections… No particular bone to pick. I literally chose the word because it sounded like other words like quark or crank and it didn't have any meeting before I started to write and those terrible thoughts appeared.

I have just written a similar poem for Saturday and am now rethinking whether I should post it or not and get back to sweet, ethereal, or musical poetry. I write poetry to bend my mind and improve my vocabulary for writing novels. I have no intention of becoming a great poet. You have confirmed that. Thank you.

Your first quote from Galileo is my favorite. I usually reduce it to "God gave us a brain and he expects us to use it" in response to all suggestions that God will fix everything, all we have to do is ask. You have quite eloquently shown the bigot his or her proper place--below the level of ignorance.
