...I heed your sound confide
finely tuned into my journey on
earth gravitation ride

your idea that a life
is a dance of a kind
an illusion of a fast forward
steps...real self holding the glow
in "now" moment...nowhere to
hide space and time
of quiet meditation with nature life,
found in oneness with everything else

I ought to stand still
to stand my ground
to fight my corner
to think sudden pause
to face the music in the queue
to pick up the chance
swing my arm with a closed fist
in front of a windmill of my own mind

transcendent realm out of which
everything else springs

there are many outside rhythms...you said
that woo when crowd seems
to be shifting out of your side

refuse to be destructed
by envy...by many fibs...deceiving senses

refuse to be trampled by many feet
crushing upon your feelings
in their eagerness to wreck your life

respond with grace...you said
to a change of rhythm status quo steps
same dance on the same floor time after time
to a taking risks in face of fear
smiling from behind the veil
to a taking that leap and fail
life lessons learned

answer to no one
whether succeed or fail
have nothing to regret
for in the end...you gave it a shot

elegant whirling pirouette
turn into a tale of triumph
over adversity...if doesn't kill
makes you stronger...hold the key

good manners cost nothing
take a full turn on your toes
and bow...find amusement in passing show

tread softly on daily minefields place
of a struggle...sacrifice...striving against the odds
a place that buried human pride
unfulfilled dream...broken heart
spirit of hope lost

place a flower on the tomb
housing unexploded dud
charged with an inconvenient truth
easily triggered by a simple
critical point...from birth to death
stop to rest...draw the otherworldly
sustenance into your own dance

...with a sudden gust of breeze came
no pain no gain...words
from towering about a golden velvet throne
floating freely amongst the stars
spiritual being en masse
with my mother's 40th birth

I wish you were here Mum
offer reason for confusing steps
swapping my favorite hero for a ghost...

I can't dance without you...

read this one with a catch in my throat, and strong feelings...especially the line "swapping my favorite hero for a ghost."
Who can be unmoved after reading this expression of the heart?

Your pen glides across paper as though you
were skating on ice...you had to been quite
young when your mother passed. "I can't dance
without you"...you will!

Always,

Deborah

Such a beautiful write, Isabella, I just paused and thought for a while .. i could hear them all , your mom, my mom , who taught us the abc of life.
Like I want to share what my mother said to me "you only look good when you smile!" Som e rough truths only mothers could say

Such a fine tribute to your mom, Isabella. I never really got to know my mother although I know how hard she worked and what a difficult life she had until she decided to leave of her own accord. Thank you for sharing and awakening thoughts and emotions. Love and best wishes to you,

Regis

Moms are the center of wisdom and love
in all families rich or poor—the most essential
of all skills for which there is no pay except the
undying love of their children—expressed so
skillfully by one with many talents of her own.

Reads like you have a lot of pent-up emotion to release in remembrance of your mother.

I have been watching "Naked and Afraid," and thought of it when you wrote about "relaxing in the peacefulness of nature." While our lives seem to be caught up in the moment with much rushing around and constant challenges, we are so blessed to have mothers to guide us and modern society sustain us. For if we truly "live in nature" in the way that they portray on that reality television show, it quickly becomes a frantic struggle just to survive to the next day. Not peaceful and romantic at all, but very painful and life-threatening at every turn.

Thank goodness for the hectic, but very easy, lives we lead. Thanks to you, Mom, and all our moms before, who suffered so to bring us to this point.
