Tributary Flood

Sterile in concrete drainage pipe,
she can't feed the land, it is held away.
From its mother, like a child,
denied the breast, to touch, to taste.
It's only nature held at stake,
starving, staring at its plate.

River's end, perception being.
Don't know where this water's been.
Guess I could swim upstream.
Sweet muddy train in progress.
Slow moving tyranny.
Nothing is where it used to be.

Flow through the valley,
we have altered the state
to impose upon our mother's face.
Are you sleepy now?  Rest your head
in the riverbed, and dream again.
Simplicity is only at stake,
starving, staring at its plate.

Don't go there to the crooked edge,
you can see the jaded rock from here.
Dive into the shallow end, cleanse this hell.
Wash my tears in mud.
Dive into the shallow end
of the tributary flood.

Sweet muddy train in progress.
Slow moving tyranny.
Nothing is where it used to be.
Are you sleepy now?  Rest your head
in the riverbed, and dream again.
It's only nature held at stake,
starving, staring at its plate.
