WoW! Profound and sad memories, enough to bring the reader to tears. Actually, in my opinion, the sea, or ocean us an excellent way to give in to our sadness. It being as one with tragedy throughout history.
It's unfortunate that scenes at the seashore bring sad memories. The California Coast gives me regret, as well for not being able to see it again and to remember the great times I had there so long ago.
