Living in the Steens Mountains of Oregon in early spring, the colors of the desert paint a beautiful picture
Ya gotta love what happens, when the sun comes up each day,
The flowers on the desert floor, open up to say,
Get up all you folks and come along outside
I'm gonna paint a picture and take you for a ride.
To show you the buttercups, that lay across the land,
The blanket of golden color that shines against the sand,
The purple hew, on the sage like a vase
Holds the green bunch grass, at its base.
The coyote stalks the cattle, all along the ditch
In hopes of finding a stray, to capture without a hitch,
The wild horses run away, the minute man appears,
They try to keep their distance, it's capture that they fear.
The desert holds many stories, that never will be told,
Especially those of long ago, they are hidden with the old.
Many folks have traveled through, but few have stopped to see,
The colors of the desert are as pretty as can be.
Yes, there's nothing like the beauty of the desert in the spring. I've been fortunate enough to be in Arizona in the spring a couple of times. It was simply amazing to see the color and life of the desert.
