To stay with someone, by their side, until their last breath is such a lasting memory
<<< LEAVING >>>
Can you saddle up to leave, and not say goodbye?
Can you ride away now, before I start to cry?
Does it mean anything, that we shared our hearts?
Does it have to be, that you must depart?
Why can't you stay, here by my side?
Why must we always pretend and hide?
Do others play such an important role?
That we forget what was, the very first goal?
I hold your memory deep in my heart.
I wont forget any right from the start.
My hand reaches out so you can hold on.
Just give me more time, before you are gone.
Leaving me now, are you sure that it's right?
Are you gonna give up, without even a fight?
Don't forget me, standing here all alone
I'm the one who stayed with you, until you were gone.
It shows great fortitude not to abandon someone near their last breath. I'm not sure about all the questioning in the poem, though. Why isn't there acceptance of death's coming? Why blame the person dying?
