Heat some oil,
Brown cubed beef
With onions,
Maybe garlic…
Add water, salt,
Seasoning, green beans,
A cup of dry, red wine.
Pour one for yourself,
Call a few friends,
Invite them over
Before it gets too late.
Is sourdough loaf done?
Close enough
Not to matter…
With melted butter
It’ll be just fine.
Look out the kitchen
Drink one more glass
So they’re busy,
Still need to eat…
Promise, won’t go overboard
Like last time.
Stare at faded picture
Above the sink,
Put in the potatoes,
Boil, then
Let them simmer
They pick up the meat’s flavor
That way.
what a wonderful recipe for life...put the ingredients together, invite in the world, and see what simmers in the pot...you wrote a magical poem here kevin
Intriguing write. We've got to wonder about those busy friends and the going overboard, faded pictures and loneliness and what's really needed to fill us up. Now I'm hungry. :-)
