This poem is about a journey we all must someday take. I wrote this poem when my father passed away.

                                                   Please don't cry

                                          Don't shed one single tear

                                               For the battle is won.

                                          Now my journey has begun

But fear not - I do not travel alone.

On this journey, there are things

                                            That must be left behind

                                      Things such as pain, sickness

And of course a troubled mind.

It is a journey of peace, a journey

Of love; it is a journey that

                                      All God's children will someday

                                                   Have pleasure of.

                                                   So dry your tears.

                                                 Please try to smile

And I'll be waiting at the gate

When you too have gone that last mile.

Certainly, it's about the journey and not the arrival. Poetic and heartfelt.

I wrote one similar poem for one of my teenage friend when he was on the verge of committing suicide after his step dad passed away. His step dad raised him ever since he was 9 months old, so he was like his real dad. He was 16 at the time. I wrote the poem for him and asked him to show to his mother as well, as she needed to read that too. They're both well after reading the poem. Sometimes we just don't know how our poems would affect others, but it's good to know my poem was read for a good cause.

Your poem, in its simplicity, said so much and so inspiring and uplifting it is by far a lot better than what I wrote. I think this should be posted in some professional offices, like the suicidal prevention center, or some places like that.

Great job!!!!

Sandie
