this is possibly my favorite write because it expresses clearly "why" i enjoy writtin' poetry.

i like ta' play with words.
change 'em all around.
take a phrase & turn it,
see what i've found.
throw 'em on the paper,
shift their shape & sound.

take a common sayin'
flip it upside down.
see if when ya' turn it
it makes a smile or frown.

abuse 'em.
confuse 'em.
refuse 'em.
time 'em.
ryhme 'em.
slime 'em.

take the words & say 'em.
sing 'em in my head.
try ta' find the rhythmn
follow where it's lead.

i like ta' play with words.
change 'em all around.
