It's unfortunate that so many people are afraid of spiders. They have such a lot going for them - incredible methods of catching their meals; amazing webs of silk; caring parents of their spiderlings. Plus they eat disease ridden flies!

RIP Spider

Consider the love of the spider,
He leads a precarious life.
Whenever he tries to ride her,
He could be a meal for his wife.

Whether Jumping, Trap-door or Garden,
His ardour can't vary or ebb.
Caresses she'll probably pardon,
While he avoids tangling her web.

Even when their love-act becomes real,
And she has found her perfect mate,
She may just have found her next meal,
And this recent lover - is late!
