[queue alarm clock : sleep invasive blearing
"nothing's been as hard
as you've been on yourself lately"]

forced from bed like a hostage
by this cold and hostile morning

     yesterday screaming like a prophet

smiles fracture the air
while ninety flavours of trouble
compete on his tongue

     dreams line the walls
     like organs in a jar

and this is [nothing]
more than an ode
to a life lived without a plumbline

[perhaps Jesus just nailed himself to his cross
before anyone else could...]

loneliness is [nothing]
more than a social disease

Blimey Jaydee, stunning metaphors.
It has a kinda black humour, but brilliantly written...

loneliness is [nothing]
more than a social disease <---so true, in this era of so much communication, the paradox is rather sad...

Wow, that last verse was a killer! You are right on the money in this gem. Smiles fracture the air. . .Fake ones break everything in two. Such a shame. This was a wonderful write my friend!

what an absolute ending; the 'nothing' is even more problematic inside the parentheticals., . .. as if nothing could exist tangibly [can it?] a veritable chorus of i told you so's and you shouldnt ahves in that music of yesterday; we all have these desires and dreams that fall in step behind out every waking thought. . .. you avhe such precision in your words, that cuts right to the core of everyhting...wish i could master that ability. ..
gripping write~

loneliness is nothing more then a social disease, so many suffer from it, a very interesting write I must say. Thank you for sharing.

It certainly is a nemesis to anyone trying to be understood or appreciated, or anyone trying to impart the worlds within to another.

"dreams line the walls
like organs in a jar"

This, to me, is one of the more intriguing images that I have read this week. Dreams on display for all to see who pass by, but neatly preserved and pickled in see-through containers. Gives me chills! Your suffering is evident in this potent write. It is good that God has blessed you with this gift and that there are many who appreciate.

Blessings and Light Poetess ...

Damn, Cedric, to write like this: with power, with grace, with style: you intrigue me. Would love to get inside your head! A deep feeling of depression, of loneliness: felt this one.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

"Ninety flavors of trouble"!!!! What a morning to have inside the mouth" and "a life without a plumbline" so everything can't go down the drain but around your ankles.
A poem, a ode to everyday's problems belonging to everybody, nothing new about it, we all had the blues now and then, even if we didn't sait it with the eloquence of the poet here...but, then...
a philosophical master piece "Jesus nailing himself to the cross before anyone could" Freud couldn't had defined depression with so few words.
Bravo!!!

"forced from bed like a hostage...
yesterday screaming like a prophet..."

Every image a delicious arrow, piercing consciousness with insights to be savored and explored. Another masterpiece, Cedric; I remain in awe.

Interesting and unusual, definately thought provoking and almost an invitation for a discussion group. You do seem to have the enquirers mind when you write such striking lines as "perhaps Jesus just nailed himself to the cross before anyone else could do it". I like this one a lot.

Quite alot of thought in this poem. Yet even isolation has the company of unsung beauty. Enjoyed

It seems like the thought of loneliness (nothing) floats through the lifetimes of many, even when we dream they seem to be nothing more than thoughts creating realities of the same...loneliness is a matter of thought, you are correct within the phrase...social disease...

nice work.....

enjoyed.....
