there are those endless
days that pass
like sand
through an hour glass
as i watch my life
slip away
in sad refrains
of madrigals and ancient rymes

then there are those days
i dwell in halls of sorrow
where black winds wail
against the ruined walls
the cracks, the lingering ache
of joy gone awry

but my best days
are days when
i see the vision
of higher realms
and listen to sea shells
of surpassing beauty
whisper of you
and your fantastic splendor

those are days
that never fail

to show me that
eternity exists in you
and in your eyes of wonder

I know that everyone interprets poetry differently. To me, this poem may seem dark, but it actually full of hope. You make me feel like I want to get into the poem and walk down the dark hallway with you, as you provoke emotion within me with your words. However, the sign of hope in this poem, is shown in your words, "but my best days are the days when I see the vision of higher realms and listen to the seashells of beauty..." This shows that no matter how much darkness and how much sorrow we feel, we always can and will find something beautiful in each day. We all have our "seashells" or sights and sounds which may cause our darkness to disappear. There is always light even on our darkest hours. You truly are talented, and I am tracking your work. It is obvious that you are talented, deep, and know how to touch the soul.

Ron, your knowledge of the dark, the dreary, the monotone makes your flashes of warmth and strength all the more powerful. Your strong descriptions never fail to evoke the picture you have in mind.
