You've not looked into my eyes, Or spoken to me in weeks When we lie in bed together I can not feel the warmth Of your flesh - so I cry Silent tears as moonlight Flows into the shadows Of what were once fond memories
You drink your coffee As if your mind is still Captured in a world of dreams I ask myself if I still Love you - but I feel the void Between us growing And it frightens me
Outside the wind sweeps away What are the last vestiges Of what were once beauiful leaves Tinted by the golden sun of autumn Now I watch you leave - you take Your hat and coat and woolen scarf The one I bought you for Christmas
Later, I know you will call To tell me that you will be Staying late at the office When finally you return, I will smell the faint odor Of infidelity upon your shirt
And I wonder how much longer It will last, now that our words Have fallen into silence, now That my heart melts like snow On a dark and dirty city street
This is just as solid as your short stories -- you should try to write one which combines both the poetry in with the prose. This one has a lot of power behind it.
I'm right there with you my dear friend. Want to sit next to me in a dark room and look at Christmas lights? Maybe we could both get out of this introspective melancholy??!! Loved the poem, my heart aches with yours...

I am left with a sense of emptiness - yet there is that distinct glimmer of hope, wrapped in beauty, which reminds me I am alive. Flawless work, thanks Ron.
My heart 'melted' in very much the same sense but I have picked myself up, brushed myself off and I am determined to live again. Boy, that was a mouthful. Too chatty as always. Great write Ron. JC
