"i am in a small path
with cherry fields
pink cheeks
and empty stomach
until we celebrate together"
~~from empty stomach by northstar
***
You must look in the direction of the wish,
half-way up within the night sky
teetering on the horizon
of desire and intuition.
Polaris of the lover,
she defines the east, west and south of moonlight.
You must look by the way of the heart,
the guiding path overgrown with rose tear,
mint flower and lemon thorn memory.
You must trace the line of
falling dreams across the cheek as she passes,
following the quiver of the compass,
and embracing
the wistful brilliance of her voice
to find the north star.

Written in appreciation for a poet who refered to herself as North Star. I wish I had not lost touch.
I grew up knowing were North was. But the North Star could easily be found on the end of the ladle of the Big Dipper. Or, for some, The Bear's Tail. Throughout recorded history and perhaps well before, the North Star guided travelers at night and was so strong as to sometimes be seen during the day.
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
contemporary social issues and gratitude for life.
