To filter or not to filter

We filter our words like
We percolate our coffee
Caffeine or decaf.

We filter our issues like
We purify our air
Dehumidify or fresh.

We filter our environment like
We refine our gas
Pollute or dilute.

We filter our lives like
We osmose our water
Spring or tap.

When our thoughts and beliefs
are filtered, are they our own
or do they belong to someone else?

Filterer or filteree
This is not a cookie and milk kind of life
Will the "authentic you" stand up?

To filter or not to filter
Dare ourselves to be
Who we are.

I especially identify with this! As I have written on my bio page here at the den, and I feel this to my core, living authentically isn't easy and i'm so glad I took the plunge into the deep. Doing the personal work it requires is exhausting sometimes, and once you have started you are satisfied with nothing less than moving on and improving who you are. Thank you for your deepth and insight on this!
