 I know it's timed

I know it's timed
How leaves leave
As I reach to hold you

Seasons come to pass
Treachery in your reach…
Certain is…
The fate of leaves
The fate of trees

Unlike for us
A choice to flee
Or to endeavor

Newly planted, our roots
Would grow forever
In our hearts
All through the lackluster--Through
All dispairing uncanny
flux

Honest hearts do not fail
Their love stays active
Nurishing with blood
Pushing and holding what is GOOD
ABOVE
EVERY
THING

It seems I am grasping
Leaves--apprehensive of us

Your limbs recede and smolder
Atop the fussy soil and
The testy odor spoils my nose

Left here is fortuitous
A desolate mulch pending
Sure decline until vanishing

Gouged into my pitiful effigy is
Your betrayal of me--your
fiery deceit--your
fatly feast--this
derision
of us

It is difficult to find the words to comment on this one, because it is so intensely, emotionally told, your analogy using the tree, and how unlike the trees, we have choices, and a will to grow and nurture a relationship. Brilliantly worded!

Oh my, so darkly expressive and beautiful. Heart wrenching pain.

I can just envision these beautiful roots growing intertwined, strong and weaved together , thirsting to live and stretch and flower. Perhaps the other senses the algorithm and wilts away into the what should be and not what could be . I agree , the good should be above everything, and the roots would only comeback stronger , resistant . You're convinced of this disappointment . Let it not be so.

I love reading a poem where you can tell that each word was thought out and placed perfectly without being overly pretentious. I love a poem that makes me read it more than once. You win on both counts. Well done.

A sort of "grasping for straws," kind of analogy for the coming end of life. It certainly is timed, and we only have less than 125 years to get done what we're going to do, leaves grasped or not.

Sounds like love got cold and frosty.
