Because I love the mountains so much, this is in tribute to them.
It's a perfect place to be
where rivers sing to me,
where eagles are at home
and bighorns sleep and roam...
where sharp peaks jut to the sky
and the red-tailed hawk flies high...
It's the perfect place to be
It's the only place for me.

where there is all serenity.
Where crystal snows and howling winds
are like two faithful friends.
It's where I can sing and hear the echo
through the canyons high and low
where the whole world there is so totally free...

For me, too. Where has this poem been all my life? I've got mountains around me every day. Grew up around them. Everything you've described here I've seen or heard all my life. If you're ever in West Virginia, try to visit Cooper's Rock State Forest. Go to the overlook by the Cheat River Canyon. The view there is everything you talked about and more. I'm gonna go there and watch the leaves change. The hillsides will turn into red, yellow, and orange checkerboards.
