Another poem my mom wrote on Easter Sunday 1983. While many do not directly relate to Easter, I think in her way they do, as she was aware of the holiday and her feelings.
I am overpowered By the love Of all I know Have known Have failed And pusillanimously Have acknowledged. My heart overflows With saline divinity Streaming anguish In a wringing of the heart A purging of the me That is too small For the volume Of this love. Pity me A victim Of this too much That cannot be Equivocal Or blase. I love you And you know Who you are. Therefore, I love God. He and you And my love Are all the same, For we are God And he is we. Words fail. Only music Can name Our truth - Each to each. Only there And in prayer Is where Human limitation Is released And we are Know - Each to each Ineffably.
If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.
