On one day this early spring
A sight did a great joy bring
In the backyard as I strolled
I saw a mass of moving gold
Waving gently in the sun
Like dancing children having fun
If perchance that they could sing
The chorus untold joy would bring
In the yard, on hill or shore
In bunches or in thousands more
Golden yellow, light or bright
They fill the heart with great delight
