Father, I write every poem for you
Because of the things I feel inside
A sheet of paper is the only friend
With whom I can confide
Anxiously my heart would wait for you
But with chains your heart was tied
I could not share my tears with you
Maybe that’s why I’ve never cried
Father, I write every poem for you
Because my soul is in much pain
don’t understand why you have gone
Leaving me out in the pouring rain
Didn’t you know how much I needed you?
Or has your love for me been slain?
If mine were the power to travel through time
I don’t think I’d go back again
Father, I write every poem for you
Even though you are never here
My heart breaks every single night
Beyond mending it is I fear
During the day I usually think about you
Wishing that magically you will appear
Since you don’t, I must continue to write
Because crying makes it hard to see clear

Thank you for inviting me to read this beautiful poem. You KNEW that I would identify with the poignant words. I am a little lost for words because this poem moved me so deeply. I wish I could reach out and give you a hug. You are a gem!!!

by every father! One of the best I've ever read on this topic.
Poetry is sewn in your soul! Bravo!
BTW...my father and brother are named Anthony. I liked the
name enough to give it to the antagonist in my Roman novel.
And the Jello...it comes in all kinds of flavors...whatever
the taste buds dictate.
And thanks for the comment on my poem.

You are a indeed a poet......and yes writing does help, at least for myself I find it a distraction........all your emotions are so evident in this write, it was like reading a diary, or a letter that never got mailed...........
well done.....by the son!
