Piano
Those rich, low notes,
found deep down
in the throat of the piano.
Those thick boulders of sound,
reaching into our bones.
That rumble, primal as a drum,
the mid-notes stand upon,
reaching top notes unsingable.
— glass wind chimes in the wind.
Eighty-eight keys, black and white
rearrange our molecules,
change our minds,
— crack open our chests,
make us forget to breathe.

But the image, for me, just doesn't seem to ring true to the poem. The image has some sad and distorted quality to it that bothered me a great deal and distracts from the positive words of the poem.

Yes, Garrett's piano albums have been a part of my Amazon Playlists for some time. Another pianist I think you might find intriguing is Jacques Loussier Trio. His albums are all jazz renditions of classical composers. His Bach, especially, is astounding.
Your poem demonstrates such grace and respect with each choice of words. The construction and spacing are also perfect for this write. The last two lines are an ideal summation and creates in the reader exactly what I think you had in mind: take our senses to new heights.
This is one I will read often as it lifts me back to my college days when music was my major.
