Threadbare

Do the words have to be perfect?
The thought precise?
If the meaning is suspect,
A flaw in the device

Does it render the whole
A worthless reading?
And any encouragement
Vaguely misleading?

Must it contain such
That it appeals to all?
Follow a theme
And never appall?

What if I cannot
Conform to this manner?
Should I pack it in?
Take down my banner?

I write what I am
And often as not
It confuses even me
But it’s all that I’ve got

Read it or don’t
Just grant me my part
Behind these facades
Is my pleading heart

Brian, the rhyme & rhythm is great in this poem. It's like I've always said, "You own your words and no one can take them away from you." Enjoyed this.
