What's a boy to do?

So many voices saying no

telling you where to go

"close your mouth when you chew"

What's a boy to think?

The world is getting smaller

ambitions getting taller

"wash your hands in the sink"

What's a boy to say?

Each day becoming longer

willpower growing stronger

"you have to earn the right to play"

What's a boy to try?

His feelings held in check

always a mini-suspect

"you know big boys don't cry"

What's a boy to make?

of constant life lessons

lengthy learning sessions

"you just can't have your cake.."

Laugh and learn

grow and try

win and lose

smile and cry

little boy

ask me why

the tiny gleam

within my eye

is all about

what you espy

build your dreams

and watch them fly

the only limit

is your blue sky
