Inquisitive woman.
Dream-lovely black woman.
Woman with my soul
glowing naked inside her heart.
Songs and tears overflow the midnight secret
of our lips butterflying magic
each praying spells to save the other
from the hissing stones
of a southern desert piled high
with smoking skulls and shattered spirits.
Ancient black love.
A morning soaked wet with storms.
Twilight blowing warm between
petals of jazz and magnolia.
The divine black voice
of a holy blues man
wraps us shameless inside
the tattooed halo of our angelic madness.
Who am I to say
“hush little baby”
with the moon sobbing gardens of bliss upon the ebony chest of the night?
How can I command
“don’t you cry”
with all these stars weeping crystal roses at your beautiful brown feet?
